“Free will is not the liberty to do whatever one likes, but the power of doing whatever one sees ought to be done, even in the very face of otherwise overwhelming impulse. There lies freedom, indeed.” Unknown
I think this quote must be our slogan, not because it’s creative, but because it’s rooted in our humanistic existence.
But as usual we have to question realities and theories. What crosses my mind is the validity of the social theory in learning for Albert Bandura.
The validity must be questioned due to the mentioned quote; we must not deal with humanistic theories as if it is infinite.
We live inside tides of changes, so we need new revolution in psychology with all the respect to exist ones.
According to this theory we learn by observing others specifically significant ones.
You may ask me why we have to question a theory according to a quote for unknown author?
Well, free will means we have the alternative, but we need the wisdom to choose due to social learning theory we learn this by observing others how they reach their chosen alternative!
But when all our Ideals lost the art of knowing that we have free will even! So how can we learn?
And here we can find the missed chain, in a time we can not see but uncertain leaders, stressed parents, scared youth, and innocent children.
What are we going to observe in such gloomy environment?!
Diminished internal motives for the sake of outsider stimulation to change.
Lost values; rationalizations for our absence, and billion of inferiority and superiority complexes.
Old generation lost the enthusiasm toward change, although they did not transfer the flag of leading to the younger, as a result the status qua is the safer alternative for a community rather than an individual.
At the end the quotes will be only a reality on a paper in someone’s eye in a time context, theories are individual creativity but not standard, So sure without a deep shake for our paralyzed minds the condition will stay still, and nothing will be observed and then to be learned.
